Gi ft I wish I could say that it was just another day at office but for the person who is working into sales and marketing field, it was “just another city to visit “ sounds more practical. This time it was Mumbai-The dream city of India. As soon as you reach the city; you feel the presence of dreams, aspirations, breathing under the hustle and bustle of a busy crowd. Local trains, hurried footsteps marching on the platform, constant announcements of the train timings, eagerly waiting eyes for the train which is running late and cacophonous shouts of all the vendors selling nastas and vegetables -That’s any local station for you any time during the day. My job requires me to travel across various cities, visit doctors, attract them to my pharmaceutical company’s products. I being the one with the amazing convincing power, I love my job and get lots of pats on my back for my work. I had almost two days to spend in this city of dreams. After exploring the city for an hour

A Freak

Image
A freak We met him on the road. He was standing at side of it. No plea at all. No placard. No shouts, just a friendly wave. That got me curious. Father had earlier told me to not pick up any hitchhiker from the road. They are usually dangerous he had said. But this one was different. He had a large ransack, some tins, a cap, rusty shoes and shabby face. These were usual for any hitchhiker. This guy had something different and that was his smile. I had never seen a single person on the road, which would not have hopeful eyes, begging for the lift. This one was just happy. His eyes were telling that, he wouldn’t feel sad if we don’t pick him up. So, we did. I backed up my 4 X 4 next to him and told him to hop on. My friend started it. “So? Where to my friend?” “Wherever you are going!”-he said being carefree. “I told you, he is nuts. He just wants to rob us. May be he has a gun or knife with him. You need to drop him off right now”-my friend said anxiously.

THE LITTLE THINGS.

Image
THE LITTLE THINGS. what makes you happy? Leave all your work for 2 minutes. Scroll the page a little slower than you usually do. Let your eyes rest a little on every word you read and think. What makes you happy? Dear friend, I have something that I have to tell you. Come closer. Do listen... what makes you happy? feeling the grass on your back as you see the stars shine brightly? wearing a bindi to work for a change? taking candle lit baths during a power cut? starring into the space for a while after completing a great novel? what makes you happy? What makes you happy? sleepless nights? Long conversations that witness dawn? Sharring a packet of Kurkure with you best friend? What makes you happy dear friend? having your heart shattered at the brilliance of a tragic novel? Dance like crazy at shitty songs? Sitting at a famous flyover at night and having ice cream? when someone shares their chocolate with you? taking random long drives on your 10 years old

GOD FOR ALL

GOD FOR ALL    Temples play a big role in Indian culture. Most Indians go for darshan, an eye-to eye- contact , of their favorite deity as often as possible. Even the poorest will save up enough money to be able to make a pilgrimage to their cherished temple. Festivals make temples even more important. On certain religious days, one can get killed trying to enter a temple.          Visiting temples for darshan and offering gifts to the Gods and Goddesses is such an integral part of our culture, temples end up amassing a lot of wealth in the form of cash, gold and silver. Just to list the top three temples: Padmanabhaswamy Temple, in 2011, was recorded as having $23.3 billion, in addition to gold ornaments, sack full of diamonds, 17 kilo gold coins dating back to East India Company, golden bow, and much more.  Tirupati temple’s deity is clad in 1000 kilos of gold. People drop bags of diamonds and gold at times at the feet of the deity, around 50,000 pilgrims visit daily

No you can’t

No you can’t Aren’t these words ‘No you can’t’ so common and irritating, trust me I also encounter them a lot, yes so funny a guy with a blog who writes whatever he wishes has been told ‘No you can’t’ seems bit ridiculous doesn’t it. It’s not like people don’t understand something is not possible as you imagine, its a line I read in someone’s status and it was like this ‘When they say its impossible, it’s impossible for them not you’. Good lines by good people but who cares, who write’s them. Now the thing is, it is actually true, everybody is bound to their own vision of possible and impossible and they are left with that. So blame your eyes because they lower your vision, just kidding I mean to say here is when people have a lack of vision they lower other peoples lack of vision too. Sometimes it’s not peoples fault too,  its the way they have been treated all their life, like parents not supporting their ideas that they can do it or teachers not listening to their ide

Are we really living?

Image
Are we really living? As absurd as it might sound, I intend to ask this question. I really do. And that is because I feel we have stopped living for a while now. Since years ago, I believe most of the humanity has taken a step back from creativity to consumerism. By this I mean it seems the world has now become a growing crowd of customers and consumers. I feel that the craze of owning the latest model of the iPhone series has become a greater passion for a teenager than that of may be learning a newer technology. That the fragile satisfaction of wearing branded clothes for a little girl has had an upper hand over the satisfaction of weaving her first wool, for a while now. I feel that having dinner at an expensive restaurant has now got a greater stature in the society than that of having a warm family get together. That owning a huge house is now considered to be a greater asset than having a joint family. It scares me, but in a way it also makes us all look foolish. There

Does Indian Society have better relationships?

Image
Does Indian Society have better relationships? We all need to change our mindset. India is the best but not in the area of relations. Indian Society has lesser understanding factors than many or most countries, the bond they say is stronger and still you find older people thrown out on streets by their own kids, money creating huge problems among family and the only nation where marriages are still arranged and daughters are conditioned from childhood to accept their parents’ choice. In spite of all the progress we have made, India still remains a conservative society. And the fact is, Indian society will never accept live in relationships moreover if it does accept here, it's the woman who starts out with a disadvantage. If a relationship fails, she is the one who is judged like it has always been. And no one intervenes if there is violence between partners in a live-in arrangement. Here too, the onus lies on the woman and people pass judgment on her character. Unless
