Terrace talks

Image
Terrace talks The wind didn't feel like breeze even if it was. The sky didn't seem clear even if it was. The voices agitated the mind and yet silent it was. Thoughts pushed each other further and further yet, blur it was. She sat there in despair. She seldom visited the terrace and still it felt like the safest place on earth. Tears rolled down her eyes and yet her dreams were dry. She had questions, none of them clear enough to be asked or silly enough to be left alone. She could have cursed god if she had talked to him before. She could have cursed fate if she had believed in it more. She could have blamed the circumstances if she was sure they were the reason. She could have pointed a finger at herself if she had known herself better. She sat in despair. She seldom visited the terrace but somehow she had nowhere else to go. "Give me a reason to hold on..." she cried not even knowing who she was talking to. "You hear that?" So...

A Time To Celebrate

Image
A Time To Celebrate “May all the sweet magic of Christmas conspire; to gladden your hearts and fill every desire.” Jay walking up to his father,  with his tea said ‘So, Dad can I ask why do we celebrate Christmas, Since we don’t have a Christmas tree, plus its India and we are not even Christians. I am 12 years old now, I don’t even go to Santa anymore, I don’t mind the gift and the chocolate but I do wonder why is it necessary to celebrate something we are not a part of.’ His dad sipping his tea replied ‘You are holding the tea wrong if its spills at me, then no gifts for you buddy. Well truly from my side we celebrate because we have a holiday and your mom likes to see my wallet empty so the gifts. The thing is it is celebrated to enjoy the birthday of Jesus Christ; non-Christians also celebrate it because it is a good gesture and we are not believers of Christ but a celebration of the neighbor’s is a celebration of ours.’ When Jay was about to say anything hi...

Is a Happy Life Different from a Meaningful One?

Image
Is a Happy Life Different from a Meaningful One? “Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.” ― Dr. Seuss “For every minute you are angry you lose sixty seconds of happiness.” ― Ralph Waldo Emerson “Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.” ― Mahatma Gandhi Defining happiness can seem as elusive as achieving it. We want to be happy, and we can say whether we are or not, but can it really be defined, studied and measured? And can we use this learning to become happier?  Happiness is a mental or emotional state of well-being defined by positive or pleasant emotions ranging from contentment to intense joy. A meaningful life is a broad term encompassing a varied number of definitions having to do with the pursuit of life satisfaction. Meaning can be defined as the connection linking two presumably independent entities together. Philosophers, researchers, spiritual leaders they’ve all debated wha...

the NEEDED TRANSPARENCY

Image
the NEEDED TRANSPERANCY:- Do you remember Falling in love? Do you remember the first time you saw her and right there and right then you felt the need to be with her? Or the first time he held your hand and you knew you never want to let go? The first time she smiled back at you and you felt alive. Or the first time he hugged you and in his arms was the safest you could ever be. Do you remember the time you couldn’t look into her eyes because they touched your heart and you couldn’t bare the anxiety? Or the time you wanted to beat him bad for not being careful while driving. Do you remember getting jealous? Do you remember the time she closed her eyes for letting you kiss her? Or the time he kissed you on your forehead when you first closed your eyes to him? The time you cancelled all your plans just to see her once before she goes on a long trip? Or the time you sobbed all night just because he was away? Do you remember the times when your bed time stories were the futu...

Smile

Image
Smile “And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years.” - Abraham Lincoln “God gave us the gift of life; it is up to us to give ourselves the gift of living well.” –Voltaire “Today you are you! That is truer than true! There is no one alive who is you-er than you!” -Dr. Seuss Life has a dependency rate, you live it on the basis of an unknown factor and you won’t be able to ever count how much time you have left. If you remember this from fight club it would be great “This is your life and it’s ending one minute at a time.” Time and life are connected in a complex manner. The thing is today is my birthday, yes it is, thank you and no I am not giving a party today. So I have asked many people about birthday’s, someone said it was to remind you that you are getting older so be wiser, someone said it was a way to remember when you were born, someone said to remind you yet another year passed and this is how close have y...

A MURDER THEY OVERLOOKED:-

A MURDER THEY OVERLOOKED:- Real world was too ugly for them both. Real world was too fake for them both. ‘You’ll get rid of the burden, won’t you?’ ‘Finally, you’ll be out of the sin.’ ‘Narrow escape.’ ‘Next time may be.’ Her thoughts were filled with those statements which felt like curses from the unborn. She sat there, more comfortably than before, but her heart was racing for some place safe to go for it knew, its home was now corrupted. Sheer emptiness was the closest she got to peace and the numbness of the moment dried her veins. She no more had to carry load of the tenant who lived in her womb rent free, but somehow she felt it wasn’t where she would wish to live herself. She weighed less but she did not feel any lighter and she was supposed to be free yet, she had never felt more trapped. Trapped in her own cage of helplessness and guilt. A withered emerald leaf landed softly at her feet as she recalled… and as she did that she looked at the leaf t...

Is Money the new oxygen?

Image
Is Money the new oxygen?    Money is the circulating medium of exchange as defined by government. But, what was before money? The barter system, I guess  everyone with basic knowledge of history knows about barter system; however, it is a trade in which there must be a coincidence of wants. Before two people can trade one must want exactly what the other has to offer, when and where it is offered, so that the exchange can occur. This system has been used for centuries and long before money was invented. Whereas money permits the value of goods to be assessed and rendered in terms of money and trade can take place at a place and time of the buyer's choosing. Oxygen is air, the stuff we breathe, the thing that makes our lives possible. It is an element, a basic chemical found on the earth. So my question is that whether money has become oxygen for livelihood? Let’s begin the debate between the 2 finalists of this game. The 1st finalist is Mr. Mike and our 2nd ...
